OK all you professional and DIY plumbers, here goes…Water comes from street through 3/4″ PVC (schedule 40) pipe. The PVC pipe changes to 3/4″ copper about four feet from the water softener. Copper is used until the water softener is reached. Copper connections are used at the intake/output valves. The water leaves the softener in 3/4″ copper for about four feet. There it changes back to 3/4″ PVC (schedule 40). Can either PVC (schedule 40) or copper be used (together or seperately) in the water lines for the softener?

most new homes are built with PVC Nowadays….you should be OK though, if your pipes are older than the ones outside….you might want a water purifier system for drinking and cooking waters.

You’re ok with that, both copper and pvc are acceptable for potable water.
